Viskase is transforming and we’re rebuilding our global procurement function to be more strategic, specialized, and future-focused. We’re looking for a Director of Procurement to lead this evolution.

In this high impact role, you’ll own the strategy for global material management, supply continuity, and cost reduction across our global plants. You’ll lead corporate and plant-level teams, manage strategic suppliers, negotiate global contracts, and drive measurable cost savings while ensuring seamless material flow.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Oversight of Material Management & Supply Continuity

  • Lead the material management team to build supply chain strategies that ensure product availability, support plant operations, and mitigate risk.
  • Implement supply monitoring tools for real-time visibility across global plants.
  • Standardize supplier performance metrics and quality expectations across all regions, resolving escalated issues and driving long-term improvements.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships at the corporate level to ensure aligned terms, consistent performance, and coordinated communication.
  • Oversee corporate contract management, including negotiation, renewals, and the review of supplier agreements.

2. Cost Reduction Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the corporate cost reduction group in identifying strategic sourcing opportunities, negotiating global contracts, and delivering measurable savings.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Strategic Sourcing to drive large-scale cost reduction initiatives and supplier consolidation efforts.
  • Implement cost-out programs, collaborating with plant teams to optimize material specifications, introduce alternative materials, and manage consignment models.
  • Develop global sourcing strategies that leverage economies of scale and low-cost region sourcing.

3. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Ensure strong alignment between corporate and plant-level procurement teams on forecasting, supplier performance, category strategies, and sourcing priorities.
  • Build and foster a culture of communication, collaboration, and transparency between procurement, supply chain, and operations teams.
  • Support plant procurement managers in delivering local cost savings, driving process improvements, and negotiating with local suppliers.

4. KPIs, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and monitor KPIs for material management, supplier performance, cost savings, and process efficiency.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on procurement performance, risk areas, and cost-reduction achievements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement processes, enhance visibility, reduce costs, and strengthen supplier partnerships.

5. Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead the redesign and implementation of the new procurement structure that aligns with the dual-focus model of material management and cost reduction.
  • Build and develop a high-performing procurement team at both the corporate and plant levels, clarifying roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
  • Mentor procurement professionals to strengthen capability, knowledge, and leadership skills across the function.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Champion change management efforts, ensuring smooth adoption of the new procurement structure and specialized operating model.

  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract expertise
  • ERP experience (SAP/Oracle/Ariba) and advanced Excel skills
