Project Engineer

 

Position Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing engineering projects related to new equipment installations, process improvements, equipment modifications, and operational troubleshooting. This role provides hands-on technical support and engineering expertise to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while delivering long-term value to the plant.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.

  • Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support to plant operations and maintenance teams.

  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets; track costs and ensure projects are delivered at or below approved budgets.

  • Prepare and submit justification and obtain approval for any anticipated budget overruns prior to exceeding authorized spend.

  • Partner with vendors and contractors to develop cost-effective, reliable engineering solutions.

  • Procure materials and services to support timely project execution.

  • Evaluate project execution to ensure compliance with safety standards and that all personnel are adequately protected.

  • Coordinate and monitor contractor activities, verifying progress, quality of work, and costs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional plant departments to identify, design, and implement improvement projects.

  • Schedule and coordinate internal labor and maintenance resources for projects and equipment overhauls.

  • Identify and report potential operating issues affecting safety, environmental compliance, production, or waste.

  • Support maintenance teams in resolving operational and equipment-related issues.

  • Communicate project status, timelines, and requirements to management and key stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including updating existing drawings and creating new drawings as required.

 

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.

  • 3–5 years of engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong project planning and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, SAP, Maximo, and AutoCAD.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • PMP certification preferred.
